Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to our new online newsletter! We hope you find the format and content useful and as always, we would love to hear your feedback.
It has certainly been an interesting week and we have all learnt a great deal about how to deal with school life during a heatwave! Thanks to some adjustments and flexibility, I am delighted that we have been able to keep the school open. We are lucky to have shaded areas, such as the woods, which have provided relaxing spaces for breaks and learning. Some areas of the school have been cooler than others and we have utilised the coolest spaces to the maximum! Some great ideas from the staff such as, the children having their feet in trays filled with cold water, have also helped. The children have been truly amazing and understood the importance of keeping calm in the heat. One child reported to his parent at the end of Wednesday, "It's been the best day ever!"
I would like to thank the whole staff for the way they have worked hard this week to ensure that the children stay safe, happy and able to continue to enjoy their learning- I feel very proud to work with such a dedicated team. Parents, thank you for your support and your understanding of the need to cancel and rearrange certain activities; please take note of the new dates within our key dates section, if you have not done so already.
Next week is Arts Week and all classes will be focusing on the work of Andy Goldsworthy, who is best known for his ephemeral art - temporary artwork intended to exist for a brief period of time. All children will be creating outdoor sculptures using materials found only in the school grounds. At the end of the week, on Friday, there will be an exhibition of all of the TLT schools' artwork (see flyer within this newsletter for more details). Photographs and sketches of some of our children's work will be displayed. During our open afternoon on Tuesday 14th of July (3:30 to 4:30pm) and there will also be an opportunity to see some of the Andy Goldsworthy work.
I hope you all have a lovely, slightly cooler, weekend.
With best wishes
