Dear parents and carers
As we come to the end of another school year, I have been reflecting on all of the memorable experiences and achievements. From interesting lessons and educational visits to sporting events and performances, our children have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination. It has been a privilege to watch them grow in confidence, develop new skills and celebrate their many successes.
At the heart of everything we do is our school values, and throughout this year, our children have demonstrated these in so many ways.
I have witnessed how the children challenge themselves every day. Whether tackling difficult mathematical problems, developing their writing, learning a new sporting skill or performing in front of an audience, they have stepped outside their comfort zones and discovered just how much they are capable of achieving. I am incredibly proud of the determination and perseverance shown by them all.
Curiosity has been at the centre of our learning. Our classrooms have been full of thoughtful questions and enthusiastic discussions. The children have shown a genuine love of learning, exploring new ideas with open minds and developing the confidence to ask questions, think deeply and discover more about the world around them. It has been great to see the children engaged in such activities as book battles, investigations and debates.
Throughout the year, the children have demonstrated compassion by supporting friends, welcoming new pupils to the school, and showing empathy and respect to each other and the adults. We have talked a lot about how random acts of kindness can help make our school a place where everyone feels happy, valued and included. The Kindness Ambassadors have really helped promote kindness throughout the school – well done!
Courage is often shown in quiet but powerful ways. This year we have seen children bravely trying something new, sharing ideas in class, overcoming challenges, learning from mistakes and continuing to persevere when things have been difficult. Believing in ourselves and never giving up, have been themes that we have often discussed. Courage was particularly seen in practice at both the Year 4 and Year 6 residential trips and by those pupils performing at the recent music concert.
Creativity has flourished across our school this year. Whether through art, music, drama, problem-solving or imaginative thinking in the classroom, our children have impressed us with their originality and enthusiasm. Their creativity has enriched our school community and reminded us that there are many different ways to express ideas and talents. The productions of ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’ and ‘Wind in the Willows’ were both great testimony to this, as well as the recent Arts’ week with the Andy Goldsworthy focus.
Thank you
I would like to thank every member of the Felbridge staff team for their dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to ensuring every child feels supported, challenged and inspired. Their passion and care make our school a special place where children can truly thrive. I feel very privileged and proud to work as part of such a wonderful team.
To our parents and carers, thank you for your continued support throughout the year. Whether helping with reading at home, attending school events, volunteering your time or encouraging your children each day, your partnership plays a vital role in their success and the whole staff team is incredibly grateful for this. As we look forward to September, we are excited to welcome new families into our community and continue building on the positive relationships already in place.
Finally, the last words must go to our departing Year 6 pupils - a special farewell to the class of 2026, as they move onto their new schools. The children have been excellent role models throughout their final year and risen to the challenge of the responsibility that goes with being at the top of the school. Jaguars, I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you and all of us at Felbridge wish you much happiness and success, as you begin an exciting new chapter – good luck and fly high!
I hope the summer holidays provide everyone with the chance to relax, recharge and enjoy precious time together.
Have a safe, happy and restful summer.
With best wishes
